Muskies Take Down Malone
The Muskingum Stunt team outlasted Malone 23-21.
The Muskingum University STUNT team battled until the final routine and came away with a thrilling 23-21 victory over Malone University on Sunday afternoon inside Osborne Hall.
The Muskies (6-1) edged the Pioneers (9-3) in a tightly contested matchup that featured three ties and multiple lead changes before a decisive fourth quarter sealed the win.
Both teams opened the day evenly matched, finishing the first quarter deadlocked at 3-3. Muskingum claimed the opening point of the contest in the first routine, but Malone answered immediately to keep pace. The back-and-forth battle continued throughout the quarter as neither side was able to create separation.
The second quarter followed a similar script. Malone briefly took a one-point edge, but the Muskies responded to even the score at 6-6 heading into halftime. Through two quarters, the teams matched each other routine for routine.
The intensity ramped up in the third quarter as Malone jumped ahead 7-6 early. Muskingum responded with a key routine win to regain momentum, but the Pioneers countered to take a 10-9 advantage. With the pressure mounting, the Muskies delivered in the final routine of the quarter to tie the match once again at 11-11 heading into the fourth.
In the final frame, Malone created its largest lead of the day at 19-15 after winning back-to-back routines. Facing a four-point deficit with two routines remaining, Muskingum rose to the occasion. The Muskies stayed within striking distance with a tie on the next routine before delivering the decisive moment in the final routine of the match, earning a 3-1 advantage to secure the 23-21 comeback victory.
With the win, Muskingum improves to 6-1 on the season and continues to build momentum. The Muskies demonstrated resilience and composure under pressure, closing strong to capture an exciting two-point victory over Malone.
