Muskingum University has announced the hiring of Tyler Wickham as the next head coach of the Muskingum women’s soccer program.

Wickham brings a wide-ranging background in collegiate, high school and elite youth soccer, along with a strong reputation for building positive, high-performance environments for student-athletes.

Most recently, Wickham has served as an assistant women’s soccer coach at Malone University, where he helped establish a structured and professional training environment, designed off-season workout programs, assisted with training sessions and game preparation, and played an active role in recruiting and scouting. During his time at Malone, he contributed to the program’s qualification for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) postseason and helped improve the team’s record from 5–12 to 9–8–1.

“We welcome Tyler to Muskingum Athletics,” said Muskingum Vice President for Athletics Kari Winters. “His energy around team culture, community building, and creating an impactful experience for our women to thrive in was high throughout the entire search process.  We are excited to watch him lead our program with intentionality and a strong vision for positive seasons ahead.”

In addition to his collegiate experience, Wickham currently serves as the Ohio Soccer Association Olympic Development Program (ODP) District Head Coach in Columbus, overseeing the largest district in the state with more than 400 athletes and 60 coaches. In that role, he manages district operations, supervises coaching staffs, leads parent and administrative communication, and helps guide long-term player development pathways.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead the Muskingum women’s soccer program,” said Wickham. “Muskingum is a place with a strong foundation, and I’m excited to build on that by creating a program rooted in daily standards, player development, and meaningful relationships. I’m looking forward to investing in these young women on and off the field and working alongside the athletic department and university community to build something that everyone can be proud of.”

Wickham also brings prior collegiate coaching experience from Notre Dame College, where he served as an assistant men’s soccer coach and contributed to a program that earned national recognition as the NCAA Division II statistical leader in goals per game (3.38) during the 2021 season. His responsibilities included training and game planning, recruiting, and building relationships with local club programs.

At the high school level, Wickham enjoyed a highly successful tenure as the girls varsity head coach at Chillicothe High School. His teams won five consecutive league championships, and he earned multiple coaching honors, including Southeast District Division I Coach of the Year recognition. He compiled a career record of 62 wins, 21 losses, and six draws, while emphasizing player development, strength and conditioning, and alignment across the entire youth and varsity program structure.

Wickham has also held leadership roles within club soccer as Assistant Director of Coaching for First Capital Football Club, where he oversaw coach development, helped design a comprehensive club curriculum, and managed professional development initiatives for staff.

A lifelong educator of the game, Wickham holds a USSF C License and has completed extensive professional training in football theory, tactics, and coaching the women’s game, including certifications through the World Football Academy and the Meulensteen Method.

Wickham earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management and his master’s degree in business administration from Notre Dame College.
