Women's Bowling sets program record in baker games

The women opened up with an 842 in the first team game and added 840 in games 2 and 3 to sit in 22nd after 3 games. They battled hard to move up to 19th after the conclusion of the "A" Squad with 4347 pins after games of 915 and 910.
The Muskies were led by junior Tayler Clark, who finished with a 937 across five individual games for a 67th-place finish. Sophomore Faith Smith added 921 across five games to finish 80th out of 403 bowlers.
Sophomore Bridget Cake tallied 823 pins in five games, and freshman Crystal Yingst knocked down 539 pins in 3 games.
Senior Lillian Matteson contributed 516 pins in three games of action, and senior Elizabeth Springsteen contributed 463 pins in her three games of action. Freshman Izabelle Genet tallied 148 in her only game of action.
The individual winner was Rachel Moore of Culver-Stockton College with a total pinfall of 1111.
At the start of Sunday's baker portion of the tournament, the women sat in 29th out of the 55 varsity teams present. The Muskies opened up the first set of four bakers with a 206 as part of a 716 set that helped gain some ground.
That baker set was followed by a 794 set with games of 195, 190, 198, and 211 to push the Muskies into the top 20. In the third set, the Muskies started with a 210 en route to a 726 block.
The Muskies entered the final block of bakers for the "A" squad in 15th place. The Muskies started off the block with a 258 and followed that up with a 199 before switching lanes. In the first game on the new lane the Muskies struggled to a 138, their low score of the day before firing a 234 to close out the day.
With the strong showing on Day 2, the Muskies set a program record for total pins (16 baker games) with 3065.
The Muskies fought their way to 22nd out of 55 teams by tallying 7412 pins across the two days. Mount Mercy won the event with a total of 8163.
The Muskies are back in action this Thursday, January 22 in Columbus at The Palace for OBC #3. Start time is scheduled for 10:00 am
