After posting its best finish in program history at the Glenn Carlson Invitational, Muskingum returned to competition in a new tournament against the same nationally competitive field, placing 19th overall at the Collegiate Shootout on Sunday.
Following a strong showing on Saturday, the Muskies were unable to find their scoring rhythm during the four Baker sets on Sunday and slipped in the standings against one of the deepest women's collegiate bowling fields in the country.
Muskingum was led throughout Sunday's action by senior Elizabeth Springsteen, who delivered a consistent performance in Baker play after finishing 41st individually on Saturday. Junior Tayler Clark (48th) and sophomore Bridget Cake (49th) also turned in strong outings, with all three Muskies finishing above their season averages for the second consecutive Tier 1 event. Sophomore Faith Smith and senior Lillian Matteson added solid efforts to round out the Muskingum lineup.
After a well-earned break, Muskingum will return to the lanes at the Kegel Collegiate Classic in Addison, Illinois, which features one of the largest and strongest women's fields in the nation, including many of the top-50 ranked programs. It will mark the Muskies' third straight Tier 1 tournament this season.
