Muskingum Names Kylee Marcum Head Softball Coach

The Muskingum University Athletic Department has announced the appointment of Kylee Marcum as the University's Head Softball Coach.

Marcum assumes the role after serving as Muskingum's Assistant Softball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the past four seasons, where she played a vital role in the success of the program.

Since joining the Muskingum coaching staff in 2022, Marcum has helped guide the Fighting Muskies to a 103-62 overall record, four consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament appearances, and two NCAA Tournament berths. The pinnacle of that success came in 2024, when Muskingum captured the NCAA Moravian Regional Championship and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional for the first time in program history.

"We are excited to be announcing the promotion of Kylee Marcum as Head Coach for our softball program," said Muskingum Associate Vice President for Athletics Kari Winters. "Kylee's passion behind recruitment and competitive performance was evident the entire search process. Her role within our program over the last four years has been a critical part of our team success and we are really looking forward to the future of Muskingum Softball under her guidance."

Under Marcum's leadership in recruiting and player development, Muskingum consistently produced high-achieving student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom. During her four years on staff, the program earned numerous All-OAC, Academic All-OAC, Academic All-District, and All-Region honors. Among the program's top individual accomplishments, Madelyn Thomas was named the John Wells OAC Pitcher of the Year in 2024, while Cara Taylor earned Gayle Lauth OAC Player of the Year honors this season.

As Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, Marcum played a key role in all aspects of the program's success, including practice planning, recruiting, scouting, game preparation, travel coordination, and student-athlete mentorship. She was instrumental in coordinating recruiting communications, organizing campus visits, evaluating prospective student-athletes, and implementing individualized development plans that helped foster both individual achievement and the program's sustained success.

"Muskingum has become home to me, and I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead this program," Marcum said. "I want to thank our administration for placing their trust in me, as well as the many alumni, supporters, and student-athletes who have helped shape both this program and my growth as a coach."

Prior to arriving at Muskingum, Marcum served as an assistant varsity coach at New Albany High School and spent a decade with the Ohio Stingrays Softball organization as a coach and showcase director. Throughout her coaching career, she has helped develop numerous student-athletes who advanced to collegiate softball programs while building a reputation as a strong recruiter, instructor, and mentor.

Marcum, a graduate of Southern New Hampshire University with a degree in human services, will lead a program that has established itself as one of the Ohio Athletic Conference's top contenders into the 2027 season. The Fighting Muskies will look to build upon the success of four consecutive OAC Tournament appearances, two NCAA Tournament berths, and an NCAA Regional Championship.
