June 16, 2026
Muskingum senior Cara Taylor has been named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Second Team Division III Academic All-American.
Taylor, a general engineering major, put together one of the most impressive offensive seasons in program history. She hit a school-record .507, surpassing the previous mark of .500 set by Mandy Carnes in 2002. Taylor also matched the single-season doubles record with 24, tying Krissy Hughes (2019), while adding 55 runs scored and 32 RBIs.
She capped her career atop another program leaderboard, finishing with a school-record 55 doubles, breaking Carnes' previous record of 51.
Earlier this season, Taylor earned Second Team NFCA Division III All-American honors, adding to a list of accolades that included Gayle Lauth Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-OAC, and First Team All-Region recognition, along with Academic All-OAC and CSC Academic All-District honors.
Taylor becomes the program's first Academic All-American since Kayley Bevard (Third Team) in 2014 and its highest honoree since Erica Hoyt earned First Team honors in 2006.
The 2026 Academic All-America® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be nominated for Academic All-America honors, student-athletes must be a starter or significant contributor to their team, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and reach sophomore athletic and academic standing at the school.
