Muskies drop weather-delayed semifinal game to Heidelberg
The #2-seeded Muskies' OAC Tournament run came to a close Saturday afternoon as Muskingum dropped a 7-2 semifinal contest to #4-seeded Heidelberg in Alliance.
The semifinal matchup originally began Friday before weather halted play after two innings. The contest resumed Saturday at 3 PM at Rafeld-Rogers Field.
The Muskies struck first in the opening inning when junior Bethany Rodman lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score freshman Payton Hochradel for a 1-0 lead. Heidelberg answered with solo home runs in the second and third innings before adding two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to build a 5-1 advantage.
Muskingum added a run in the sixth inning as senior Elizabeth Wauford doubled to right center before junior Natalie Smith delivered an RBI double to center field to cut the deficit to 5-2. Heidelberg added two insurance runs in the seventh inning to seal the victory.
Muskingum Highlights
• Fr. Payton Hochradel led the Muskies at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Named to the All-Tournament team.
• Jr. Natalie Smith finished 2-for-4 with an RBI double
• Sr. Elizabeth Wauford doubled and scored a run
• So. Emily Travis and So. Kasey Timko each added a hit
• Jr. Bethany Rodman drove in a run with a sacrifice fly
• Sr. Cara Taylor was named to the All-Tournament team.

Muskingum now awaits the NCAA Selection Show on Monday at 11 AM to learn if the Muskies will earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
