How it Happened
Game One:
Muskingum came out on top in a back-and-forth offensive battle, defeating Otterbein 10–9 after responding to early pressure and finishing strong late. Otterbein jumped ahead early with two runs in both the first and second innings, but the Muskies answered with a pair in the second and added two more in the third to take a 5–4 lead. The Cardinals surged back with a four-run fourth to regain control, but Muskingum stayed within striking distance, chipping away with single runs in the fourth and fifth before delivering the decisive blow with a three-run sixth inning. Muskingum capitalized on timely hits, including two home runs from senior Olivia Dishon and a three-RBI performance from junior Olivia Rapol, to secure the one-run victory.
Game Two:
Muskingum completed the sweep in dominant fashion, shutting out Otterbein 8–0 behind a strong all-around performance. After a scoreless first inning, the Muskies slowly built momentum with single runs in the second, third, and fourth to take control before breaking the game open with a five-run fifth inning. Muskingum's offense was efficient, tallying nine hits, including solo home runs from senior Cara Taylor and junior Natalie Smith. In the circle, junior Tareyn Born was outstanding, tossing a complete-game two-hit shutout to keep Otterbein off the board and secure the run-rule victory.
