Muskies Ranked 25th in NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll
The Muskingum softball team has earned national recognition for its strong start to the 2026 season, coming in at No. 25 in the latest NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The ranking comes as the Muskies have jumped out to a 16–4 overall record, including a dominant 9–1 mark on the road and 5–1 in neutral-site games. Through the first 20 games of the season, Muskingum has been one of the most productive offensive teams in the region while also getting consistent production in the circle.
The Muskies are hitting .355 as a team with 213 hits and 144 runs scored in just 20 games. They have already produced 53 doubles and are slugging .502 as a team.
Senior standout Cara Taylor has been the catalyst of the offense. Taylor is hitting an incredible .562 with 41 hits in 73 at-bats while scoring 33 runs. She has also driven in 23 runs and leads the team with 14 doubles and three triples, while posting a .595 on-base percentage and a .877 slugging percentage.
Several other Muskies have provided major offensive support. Sophomore Kasey Timko is batting .394 with 28 hits and a team-high 25 RBIs. Freshman Tisha Thompson is hitting .389 and sophomore Emily Travis is batting .375 with two home runs and 12 RBIs. Junior Bethany Rodman has also been one of the team's most consistent hitters, posting a .405 average with 15 hits and two home runs.
As a team, Muskingum has also shown its ability to pressure defenses with speed, stealing 34 bases through the first 20 games of the season.
Muskingum's pitching staff has also been a key reason for the team's national ranking. The Muskies hold a 2.87 team ERA and have limited opponents to just a .240 batting average.
Rodman has led the way in the circle, going 7–0 with a 2.27 ERA in 58.2 innings pitched. She has allowed just 49 hits while striking out 27 and has been a steady presence in big-game situations.
Freshman Dani Wright has also been outstanding with a 5–1 record and a 1.86 ERA in 26.1 innings, while Freshman Lillian Fillippinie owns a 1.27 ERA and has already picked up a save this season. Junior Tareyn Born has added three wins and valuable innings as part of the rotation, helping give the Muskies strong depth in the pitching staff.
With a 16–4 start and a national ranking now in hand, the Muskies will look to continue their momentum as conference play continues.
