Muskingum to host OAC Softball Tournament

The Muskingum softball team will host the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament on May 3-5 at the Donna J. Newberry Field in New Concord, Ohio. 

THE BASICS

OAC TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

The format is double elimination with the champion receiving an automatic bid to NCAA Division III Tournament. All Tournament games will feature live stats at fightingmuskies.com.

Day One - Friday, May 3

#1 Muskingum (Roster l Schedule l Statistics) 

The Muskies are currently 31-9 overall with a 15-3 slate in the OAC. As a team, Muskingum is batting .354 and averaging 10.3 hits, and 7.3 runs per game. 

Senior Krissy Hughes is batting .460 with four home runs, 64 hits, 23 doubles, three triples, and 28 RBIs. This season, Hughes has broken numerous offense records for the Muskies including career and season stolen bases, runs scored, and doubles in a season. Hughes was also named the OAC Softball Hitter of the Week (twice) and the NFCA Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week. 

Freshman Haley Hawk is batting .443 with a team-best 42 RBIs off of 54 hits. Sophomore Jaelyn Meade is batting .373 with a team-high 10 home runs, 40 RBIs, five triples, and six doubles. Sophomore Karsyn Shaffer is batting .385 with 23 RBIs and 14 stolen bases, while sophomore Riley Powers is hitting .341 with eight doubles and 29 RBIs.

The Muskie pitching staff sports a 3.28 ERA and is holding hitters to a .278 batting average. Freshman Hannah Smith guides the staff with an overall 13-2 record and carries a 3.33 ERA. This season, Smith was honored as the OAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Senior Rachel Eberling carries an 11-3 mark and a 3.00 ERA, and sophomore Hannah Duff has a 2.53 ERA with a team-best 47 strikeouts. Eberling is also batting .331 with 33 RBIs, nine home runs, and 10 doubles. 

Muskingum has appeared in the OAC Tournament a total of 29 times. The Muskies have won the championship 18 times, finished second six times, finished third once, and placed fourth three times. 

#2 Ohio Northern (Roster l Schedule l Statistics) 

The Polar Bears are currently 21-15 overall with a 14-4 mark in the OAC. As a team, Ohio Northern is batting .345 and averaging 9.6 hits, and 5.8 runs per game. 

Senior Hailee Loughman is batting .422 with 14 doubles, 46 hits, three home runs, one triple, and 31 RBIs. Junior Gabby Stewart is batting .417 with a team-best 34 RBIs, 48 hits, 10 doubles, and four home runs. This season, both Loughman and Stewart were named OAC Softball Hitters of the Week. Freshman Rachel Hish is batting .396 with seven RBIs off of 40 hits, while junior Brady Guest is hitting .381 with 25 RBIs, six doubles, and four home runs. 

The Polar Bear pitching staff sports a 3.94 ERA and is holding batters to a .293 batting average. Senior Kaitlin Surdej guides the Polar Bears with an overall 13-7 record and a team-low 2.61 ERA. Surdej has appeared in 27 games and pitched 17 complete games. Surdej has a team-high 83 strikeouts, averaging 4.1 strikeouts per game. Freshman Maddie Anderson sports a 3.72 ERA and has registered 32 strikeouts. This season, Anderson was named the OAC Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Ohio Northern has made a total of 23 appearances in the OAC Tournament. The Polar Bears have finished first a total of five times, second four times, and third seven times. 

#3 Baldwin Wallace (Roster l Schedule l Statistics) 

The Yellow Jackets are currently 32-8 overall with a 13-5 slate in the OAC. As a team, Baldwin Wallace is batting .350 and averaging 9.4 hits, and 6.5 runs per game. 

Senior Alexis Boledovic is batting .454 with 64 hits, 15 doubles, five triples, three home runs, and 38 RBIs. This season, Boledovic was named the OAC Softball Hitter of the Week. Junior Alex Kozich is hitting .397 with 46 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, three home runs, and 34 RBIs. Junior Macy Leach is batting .393 with 23 RBIs off of 42 hits and has a team-best 15 stolen bases. 

The Baldwin Wallace pitching staff sports a 2.22 ERA and is holding hitters to a .235 batting average. Freshman Nikki Camarati leads the staff with a 19-4 mark with two saves. She holds a 1.20 ERA and has 175 strikeouts on the year. Sophomore Abby Cosart has an 11-4 record and has pitched a total of 88.1 innings en route to posting a 3.33 ERA.

Baldwin Wallace has appeared in a total of 16 OAC Tournaments. The Yellow Jackets have finished first once, second four times, third seven times, and fourth three times. 

#4 Otterbein (Roster l Schedule l Statistics) 

Otterbein is currently 21-15 with a 12-6 mark in the OAC. As a team, the Cardinals are batting .314 and averaging 8.6 hits and 4.8 runs per game.

Senior Alyson Shaw is hitting .402 with 49 hits, seven doubles, one triple, and 10 RBIs. Senior Anna Edwards is batting .355 with 15 RBIs off of 33 hits, while junior Courtney Hackney is hitting .352 with 21 RBIs, 32 hits, four doubles, and three home runs. Freshman Savannah McCoppin is batting .347 with 10 RBIs, 35 hits, and three triples. 

The Cardinal pitching staff sports a 3.05 ERA and is holding batters to a .252 batting average. Senior Gabby Johnson guides Otterbein with a 13-9 record. Johnson has appeared in 25 games and pitched 10 complete games, with 128 strikeouts. This season, Edwards has a 7-6 mark with a 3.71 ERA.

Otterbein has appeared in a total of eight OAC Tournaments. The Cardinals have finished first once, second three times, and finished fourth twice.
