Connolly, Zecchini named OAC Players of the Week
The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that juniors Spencer Zecchini and Trevor Connolly were named the Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week respectively.
The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that juniors Spencer Zecchini and Trevor Connolly were named the Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week respectively.
Zecchini and Connolly helped lead Muskingum to a 2-0 record in their opening week. During their season-opener, Muskingum cruised to a dominating 16-8 road win over Thiel. The Muskies followed up the win with a 10-7 victory against Washington & Jefferson. This marks the third time in program history the Muskies have started 2-0 to begin the year.
During the win at Thiel, Zecchini poured in a team-high six goals and dished out two assists to lead Muskingum to victory. Zecchini also picked up two ground balls in the season-opening victory. Against the Presidents, Zecchini tallied one goal and registered seven ground balls to fuel the Muskies to the win.
In the net, Connolly was a presence all week, registering 17 saves, grabbing six ground balls, and tallying a save percentage of 68% in the season-opening victory against the Tomcats. Against Washington & Jefferson, Connolly notched eight saves and grabbed two ground balls to help lead Muskingum to the win.
Muskingum will be back in action on Saturday, March 4, when they take on Moravian at the Blue Ridge Classic hosted by Ferrum College. Game time is still TBA, and they will take on either Ferrum or Pfeiffer on Sunday, March 5.
