The Muskingum University Athletic Department has named Lucas Worrell associate head coach for the Muskingum Men’s Basketball program. He arrived at Muskingum in the summer of 2022 as an assistant coach.

Worrell arrived in New Concord after one season as an assistant coach for the Bethany College men’s basketball team. Prior to his time at Bethany, Worrell served as a Graduate Assistant for the Ashland University men’s basketball program for two seasons. While at Ashland, Worrell helped guide the team to its first-ever Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, as well as advancing to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. Ashland’s opening round win in the NCAA Tournament was the program’s first national tournament victory since the 1990-91 season.

Prior to Ashland, Worrell worked for one season as an assistant coach for MacMurray (Ill.) College where he handled practice and game planning duties, talent evaluation, recruiting, and travel. A graduate of Illinois College, Worrell returned to his alma mater in the 2017-18 season to serve as an assistant coach. While at Illinois College, Worrell assisted in all aspects of the program.

Worrell, a native of Jacksonville, Ill., earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 2017.
