Men's Basketball falls to Olivet in Game 1 of GVW Classic

The Muskingum Men's basketball team traveled to Hope College for the GVW Classic. They faced Olivet in game 1 on Friday evening, dropping that contest 87-70. The Muskies got off to a slow start, and couldn't catch back up.

Inside the Numbers

• Junior Owen Emig led the way for the Muskies with 19 points on 6 of 13 shooting from three. Emig also had 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
• Sophomore Phil Towns added 11 points off the bench for Muskingum. Towns went 3 for 3 from three and 4-8 from the field. Towns also registered 5 assists and 2 rebounds.
• Sophomore Alieu Ceesay registered 12 points, all in the second half. Ceesay shot 4 of 10 from the field and also tallied 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.
• Junior Nathan Walker pitched in 7 points on 3 of 6 shooting. Walker also tallied 2 rebounds and 1 steal. 
• Senior Duane Davis and Freshman Roman Crosby each contributed 6 points to the offense. Davis also added 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Crosby shot 3 for 5 from the field and also contributed 2 rebounds and 1 block. 
• As a team, Muskingum shot 26 of 62 from the field, 11 for 28 from three, and 7 of 13 from the free throm line. The Muskies racked up 27 rebounds, 15 assists, 6 steals, and 1 block.
• Mike Okello and Nathan Richardson each had 16 points for Olivet.

• The Muskies will be back in action tomorrow at 2:00PM for day two of the GVW Classic. They will face Hope College.
