Muskie Football names 2025 Team Captains

Muskingum Football Head Coach Matt Nardo has announced the captains for the 2025 season. Leading the charge will be senior quarterback Garrett Gurney, senior offensive linemen Logan Crozier and Foster Wertz, senior linebacker Conner Gurney, and senior defensive lineman Kenny Page.

Quarterback Garrett Gurney returns after an impressive season that earned him Honorable Mention All-OAC honors. He passed for 1,471 yards with a 69.5% completion rate, tossed 12 touchdowns, and added 234 rushing yards and seven scores on the ground. He ranked fifth in the conference in passing yards and tied for ninth in rushing touchdowns.

Crozier was a key piece of an offensive line that helped the Muskies rack up 396.2 yards per game, ranking fourth in the OAC. Right beside him, Wertz, a Second Team All-OAC selection, helped power an offense that averaged 28.6 points per game.

On the defensive side, Conner Gurney made his presence felt with 33 tackles and 2.5 sacks, while Kenny Page added 13 stops and a sack as a steady force on the defensive line.

The Muskies kick off the 2025 season under the lights on Saturday, September 6, when they host Mount St. Joseph in a nonconference showdown at the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
