Muskingum senior captain running back Bernard Johnson was recognized on the national level for his outstanding game against Wilmington by being named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Johnson, who was earlier honored as the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week, rushed for a career-high 172 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the Muskies past the Quakers. It marked Muskingum's 11th straight win against Wilmington. Johnson carried the ball 21 times and averaged 8.2 yards per rush.
Johnson's stellar game helped Muskingum amass 520 yards of offense, which were the most yards for a Muskie team since 1999 when Muskingum had 591 yards against Hiram.
Muskingum next plays at 17th-ranked John Carroll on Saturday, October 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
