The Muskingum baseball program announced today that Coach Michael Jacob has been elevated to the position of Associate Head Coach, recognizing his impact on the program since joining the staff.
Jacob joined the Muskingum baseball program in the summer of 2023 as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator and has played a key role in the program's continued ascent. Under his leadership, the Muskies have recorded back-to-back 20-plus win seasons, including a 28-win campaign in 2025 that tied the school record for most wins in a single season.
"Since we hired Michael three years ago to be our pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, our program has continued to ascend to new levels due to his hard work and dedication to our student-athletes," said Head Coach Jake Krupar. "We are excited to honor these achievements with his promotion to Associate Head Coach."
A four-year letterman and standout pitcher at the University of Toledo, Jacob enjoyed a highly successful NCAA Division I career in the Mid-American Conference. He ranks fourth all-time in Rockets history in single-season appearances (25) and single-season saves (8), while his 14 career saves rank fifth all-time at Toledo. Jacob struck out 192 batters over 231.1 career innings and led Toledo with 71 strikeouts during the 2019 season. He also helped guide the Rockets to three consecutive MAC Tournament appearances.
Prior to his arrival in New Concord, Jacob spent three seasons as pitching coach at St. Clairsville High School, where he helped lead the Red Devils to OHSAA playoff appearances in each season. During his tenure, he coached multiple all-district players and also served as the program's head junior varsity coach.
A native of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Jacob graduated from the University of Toledo in 2019 with a double major, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in professional sales and finance.
Jacob will continue overseeing Muskingum's pitching staff and recruiting efforts while assuming an expanded leadership role within the baseball program as Associate Head Coach.
