Muskingum battled until the final out, scoring three runs in the ninth inning, but fell to #11 Mount Union 10-6 in the OAC Tournament opener on Thursday afternoon in Alliance.
The Muskies came out strong with two runs in the opening inning as sophomore Lex Castaneda delivered a sacrifice bunt RBI and freshman Josh Beavon followed with an RBI single to give Muskingum the early advantage.
After Mount Union scored runs in the second, third, and fifth innings to build an 8-3 lead, the Muskies continued to battle throughout the afternoon. Muskingum finished with nine hits and sparked a late rally in the ninth inning behind RBI doubles from juniors Conner Thamann and Grant Mellerson.
