Muskingum’s Health and Wellness Complex (HWC) will be a 100,000 square foot facility positioned in the heart of campus that will offer an upgraded stadium, a modern indoor fieldhouse, and a state-of-the-art diagnostics center. The HWC will connect academic programming, athletics, student life, and community partnerships.
Muskingum University will induct its newest members into the Athletic Hall of Fame and recognize Muskie senior student-athletes during the Night of Impact on Friday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m. The event will be presented by Carol Goff & Associates Real Estate and hosted at EagleSticks Golf Club in Zanesville, Ohio. The class of inductees includes Tom Dillard '66 (Football), Trent Cubbison '89 (Track & Field), Jamie Eastham Jones '05 (Track & Field), and Kim Tackett '07 (Softball).
The Muskingum University softball team will be hosting a Mighty Muskies Softball Academy. The academy will occur over the course of five weeks, starting on Tuesday, December 10 and ending on Thursday, January 16. The academy will feature a total of ten sessions, five offensive and five defensive sessions.
The Muskingum volleyball team was ranked 14th in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll of the year. The Muskies were ranked as high as 11th this season. The AVCA Division III Top 25 Poll is selected by Division III head coaches representing the eight NCAA regions.
Muskingum football senior defensive lineman Tim Ousley was named First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference and honored with the Paul Hoernemann Award for being named the top defensive lineman in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Sophomore kicker Gavin Costello also received First Team All-OAC honors, while senior running back Bernard Johnson was named Second Team All-OAC. Junior defensive back Brian Brown and junior punter Jarrett Patton rounded out the Muskie honorees with Honorable Mention All-OAC accolades.
The Muskingum women’s basketball team fell to Kenyon in a nail-biting matchup on Wednesday, 64-63. Senior Devyn Bonner directed the Muskies a double-double. Bonner notched 18 points and collected 12 rebounds.
Muskingum volleyball juniors Brooke Fatheree, Erin Dickson, and Maddie McGee were named American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Honorable Mention All-Americans. The outstanding play of Fatheree, Dickson, and McGee guided the 14th-ranked Muskingum volleyball team to a 27-4 overall record, their best campaign since 1999, and a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular-Season Championship for the first time since 1999. The trio also helped the Muskies clinch their 10th appearance in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament and the teams first NCAA Tournament match triumph since 1999.
The Ohio Athletic Conference has named junior quarterback Brody Hahn OAC Offensive Player of the Week, freshman defensive back Yo-Vonne Roberts OAC Defensive Player of the Week, and sophomore kicker Gavin Costello OAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
